Hi everybody
I am doing Masters degree.
My I 20 is expiring on July 2010. I have not finished my required courses till now. I have applied for I-20 extension and the International Center of my university is saying that they may not give me I-20 extension to complete my degree, because the reason I have provided is not acceptable to them. I have completed almost 40 credit hours and need extension for 9 credit hours.

MY QUESTION IS

:-? IS THERE A POSSIBILITY THAT THEY MAY NOT GIVE ME EXTENSION IN I-20? IF YES, WHAT CAN I DO?

I am very tense. Please guide me.

Thanks in advance

i don't see why they would refuse you, it is only 9 hours needed, perhaps talk to a lawyer if you are refused, or apply for OPT early, then use some of that time to complete your credits, then once into your opt ask for an extension on that.

work with your advisor otherwise as long as u have maintaned ua status they should be able to extend it, read the fine prints on the back of ua 1-20. It says u are legally allowed to be here as long as it takes u to complete your area of study. unless u have taken more than 8 years trying to get one degree. that one it shows u r not serious u r just buying time.
Its not an issue.
