Here's my story...
I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree. Before graduation I had obtained OPT status which was active basically the day after my graduation. PROBLEM: I did not utilize my OPT status as it was difficult for me at that time to find a job here in the field I was pursuing (which was the case for a many actualy citizens of the US... by the way I'm from Canada). I had no intentions of entering a grad program at that time. So I made my way back to Canada, which for family reasons as well as a better possibility to get my career going. About 9 months later I find that I belong in the US and uncovered a field that I want to pursue, with the help of my student advisor... needless to say my OPT was never used (wish I could have done things differently.. thats life). I am now back in the US pursuing that career.. as a Physician Assistant. I am taking summer and fall classes at my alma mater to cover the pre reqs. ANOTHER PROBLEM: The programs require approximately 1000 PAID patient contact hours in a clinical setting. This why I am kicking myself because I could have at least done this in Canada while I was throwing away my OPT, but I had got into sales (wanting to get into Medical Sales). I have about 6 months to find something such as an H-1B.. however, the clinics I have contacted around here are telling me that I need to apply for a position that requires an advanced education (bachelor's degree) and the problem is that they do not have any and probably never will.
Right now I have stressed all the options I can possibly think of. I have done a lot of research and engaged many officials regarding this.. and for some reason I feel like I am on my own. I have attended schools in the US for the last 5 years (paying international/out of state tuition). All I want to do is finish my education here so that I can be employed in the states permanently to help in providing health care and aide. I love this country (not saying I dont love Canada) but this is where I want to be.
I need some major help or some direction, and what my options are. Am I able to reapply for OPT.. considering I never even used it. Or what other types of visa's?
