Hi there,

I've been googling a lot trying to find this out, and when I arrive at school I figured I'd check with my adviser as well, but since I'm curious I figured I'd ask here!

Are there any rules for earning a little bit money of hobbies while in the US on a F1 visa?

I've been thinking about setting up a Etsy shop to try to sell my photos. This probably wouldn't earn me huge amounts of money (if anything at all).
Can I do this on a F1 visa without worrying about jeopardizing my visa status? Is there a limit to how much I can make? Do I have to tax after a certain amount?

Obviously getting a few bucks isn't worth it if it means I'll get deported instead  Especially since I don't technically need money, as I have enough funding to cover the necessities through scholarships and student loans.
I'd be out there taking photos anyway and since I get lots of compliments on my shots I figured trying to sell them and make a wee bit of money wouldn't be horrible :)

I dont think anyone will hunt you down with your etsy store unless you are making a gazillion dollars.
Of course, going around telling people about your store , specially to potential immigration officer will be a dumb move ?
