I'm currently a senior at a four year art college in CA,
and I wish to go for a master degree in case I'm unable to obtain H1 in time.
does it matter which school i choose? someone told me that I should choose "universities" instead of "colleges" if i wish to apply for permanent status later on after I'm done with it.
also if I decided to go for a second bachelor's degree, can I pick a major that is similar to what I'm studying currently?
or does it have to be a completely different major of study?
thanks

Chocolove,

You should choose the college/university based on the school meeting the criteria that you are looking for, not whether it says college or university in its name. They both could offer both Bachelors and Masters. You just need to research and find out what they offer. As long as they offer your degree, you should be fine.

If you are pursuing a Masters degree now, then they will expect that you have finished whatever pre-requisite courses and acheived the appropriate GPA (and possibly taken the GRE, depending on the school) in order to be considered.

You could apply for a second bachelors but it will need to be a different major. It can normally be similar but it would have to be different.

I hope that helps.

Jim
