PostPosted: Sun, 30 Apr 2006 09:35:20 +0000
Hey,

I study business management in Germany and my study include a 3 month stay in a foreign country. I choosed to go to the US and I would like to go to California, especially cuz of the wheather and all that stuff.

But now I have the problem that I do not know which University to pick. There is such a large variety that I get confused.

Now I hope that someone can give me a hint which University is worth to pick. Another problem is that I only have 3 month time for my stay. I think I need to pick a sommer course in order to have time to travel around and see something from the US

thx for ur help

Markus

Berkeley is always cool :) what's good about it is that people actually walk there and there are coffee bars , bars and stuff you're used to in Europe. Most of the US ppl just drive cars and u can't see anyone walking, there are no squres like we know and no downtown like we know it.

Humboldt State University is cool I heard. Very liberal and lots of fun.

UCLA in L.A. is good but if you don't have car LA will suck; that's what i heard.

In California I would recommend San Francisco (especially Berkely, but anything in SF).

In US I'd go for NYC.

if you have any questions feel free to ask here or via email.

Hey

thx for the information. Where ur from?

Ich thought about UCLA too, but some of my fellow students want to go there to and that is what I am tryinig to avoid. I was once on holiday in Dublin and wanted to improve my english. But I met some Germans and I just spoke German all the time. But that's not the idea of study abroad.

I also thought about Berkeley and was told that the campus was nice but the city itself was a mess. Is that so?

Where is Humbold State University? I haven't heard from them before?

kind regards

Markus

 Post subject: CA schools

Though I am not sure whether you will be going to school for undergraduate or graduate studies, I think a lot of the schools are great in CA. I am not from the area, but have done some research on the schools. I hear that Stanford, a very outstanding school, has a great business program. And there is not doubt that the University of CA schools are excellent as well. I would go onto the UC website where they give you a listing of all their campuses and then research their business schools through their website. It will be the most helpful and accurate I think. Good luck!

hey!

well, I am from Croatia so I'm telling you what my friends from the States have told me. I'm going to Beloit College, Wisconsin though.

As for Berkeley, I've heard that area around campus is very nice and so is downtown San Francisco. But u know, everything has it's bad sides. There are getthos and stuff but LA is probably worse. Thing about LA is that public transportation sucks and the city is spread out w/no real center. SF and Berkeley are different in that area. I have a friend that went to grad school there and loved it.

Humboldt I've head on a hippy forum :) for the first time. It is a good school as I found out doing my research , but if u can afford school like UCLA or Berkeley go for that. Bigger name and more opportunities. Humboldt has around 7500 students so that's nice, u get to know more ppl , but what ever u prefer.
Google it.
